Evaluation question 3: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Evaluation Question 3

Audience feedback is very important when it comes to producing an ad campaign for a film. through audeicne feedback, the creators and promoters of the film, will find their target audience based on the genre of the film, content of the film etc and focus their advertisement on them because they know that there is no point wasting their time and money advertising to people who arnt going to be interested in the film. The woman in black for example, didnt target just a particular audience and instead, targeted a broad audience through every advertisement way possible. They advertised the film through tv adverts, various trailers of the films, youtube, social networking sites, radio adverts, interviews, bus stop posters, billboards etc but mainly, they used the star of the film to advertise... Daniel Radcliffe is one of the biggest actors in the world, so they used this to their advantage and sent him to do every interview to promote the film. Radcliffe himself has a very large fan base, so the creators of the film knew that this will give the film a bigger and broader audience.

We used various ways of collecting audience feedback through research and other techniques such as questionnaires, surveys etc we found that distributing surveys and questionnaires we the best ways to gathered a broader range of audience feedback as you can create multiple and send them easily to people in a short amount of time and also, by doing this, youre not targeting a specific audeince so a wider range of people will answer. This is what also helps you find your target audience. From our feedback, we found that people would infact a psychological horror, which is what our genre of film is, and that they would go to the cinema to watch it. The demographics of our audience is mostly males aged 17+ and are fans of horror films.

We recieved both positive and negative feedback for our media products. after a class viewing, we found that our trailer recieved mostly positive feedback and overall people liked it and said that they would go an watch it in the cinema. They also said that our trailer follows typical horror conventions, which is something we took into consideration whilst creating the trailer for Placebo. The only slightly negative feedback we got from viewers, was that the trailer seemed quite long. We took this into consideration and whilst editing, added and took away certian scenes to speed the trailer up a bit to make it seem not so slow and long. My movie poster had overall goodfeed back about editing and photography, but there was so comments about the font used for the title.

Feedback was very important when it came to improving our work. If we hadnt recieved the audience feedback saying the trailer seemed quite slow paced, we wouldnt have known to correct it and imorove it overall.
